The CCM Vocal Pedagogy Institute
WHAT WE KNOW TO BE TRUE
Our American musical heritage is rich because of the many cultural influences it embodies. Without the contributions of Black Americans, there would be no blues, jazz, rock n’ roll, heavy metal, R&B, Hip-hop, or Gospel music. These musical forms are deeply rooted in indigenous African tribal traditions brought to this country during our dark history of slavery and now rank as some of the most sophisticated and powerful art forms we have today.
At the CCM Institute, we acknowledge these contributions and honor their source. We hold this musical lineage with the highest regard and work to ensure that everyone, regardless of their background, is able to communicate their human experience through song. We stand with our Black brothers and sisters in their fight for equality and pledge to respect these musical styles, always crediting those who contributed to their development. We will continue to push for change, listen without judgment, and embrace all of our fellow humans with open arms. We need to do better. We will.

"In my three decades of teaching, I've never encountered a faculty who work so well together, who are so knowledgeable and skilled, and whose enthusiastic generosity as educators never falters. If you sing, teach, or even just geek out over contemporary singing styles, you owe it to yourself to experience the CCM Institute."
